just because you don't know...

everybody's looking at the rokr e1 (or whatever goes after the e) as this great new thing... all hail apple and motorola for thinking to combine a phone and an mp3 player!

...

while the rokr *is* the first of its kind, it is *not* the first phone that is also an mp3 player. in fact, my phone will function as both. the difference? i need to buy special headphones (approximately $30), and there's not enough memory to function as a proper mp3 player... on, and the battery life sucks too much. but the fact is, it was designed to be able to be an mp3 player. (note: in case nobody paid attention earlier, or everybody missed it, i have a motorola t730. yeah, nothing to be proud of.)

***

i want a 4 gig nano. it's the first mp3 player i've actually really liked.
why did they have to make it?

she's got some nerve...

so i finally figured out why my professionalism professor going off on us for not having read the chapter irked me so much.

it's a valid reason to be upset at students. she asked that we read those two chapters by the next class so we could discuss them. she asked that we make sure that we read them. we didn't read them. i'd be upset too.

but then i realize... it's not so much that she was upset at us. it's that we got a rant on wasting time from her. wasting time. from the professor that didn't bother to learn 1) her own operating system and 2) her own software, and ended up bumbling on her computer in front of us before finally giving up on even trying to use the software. the software that she makes us bring our laptops to class for. even worse, we were sitting right in front of her telling her *exactly* how to run it. she dismissed this as "i don't want to debug this right now." debug? she didn't know how to run a shell script.

"run boom.sh" that didn't work. oh, you have to add a "./"? "./run boom.sh" oh wait, not there. "run ./boom.sh" er... "./boom.sh" wait. not in the right directory? what's the right directory?

even today in class, she was navigating through directories, and she couldn't figure out where she was supposed to go. it's where you put it! she seriously didn't seem to realize the relationship between the file system and the pretty folders on the desktop and in the hard drive.

when she finally got the shell script to run on her machine, she had trouble with the interface. this is software she's responsible for. she oversees the development on it.

regardless of how she wasted our time, she ruined class that day (we were supposed to be using the laptops for all sorts of things that day), and then the very next class, she goes off on us about how we're not getting all we should out of the class because we hadn't done the work. we're also missing out on some stuff because you didn't bother to learn your own software and operating system.

alone, neither issue would have bothered me very much, but together... the combination irks me. which magnifies both of them.

that's all.

idle thoughts, part 6

light blue with rays of yellow... like an early winter morning...
as much as i love mornings out on the slopes, there's something this combination reminds me of that i don't particularly like. i just can't quite place my finger on it.
perhaps this is why i'm a night person.

talk about not living up to expectations...

something did not want me getting what i wanted this weekend. i went to lid's, and they had *no* vt visors. none. not even a non-orange, non-maroon one (note: i did buy a pink one today... i'm such a girl at such random times). nobody had a usb mic. nobody had taikos (for taiko drum master... okay, maybe not *everything* was for me... but it's stuff i was looking for!). nobody had the eva movies (except for crossroad's... they had one, and it was for rental). went to poor billy's on sunday, and they were OUT OF CLAMS. yeah, seriously. out of clams. were they not the reason i went there in the first place? and then... went to souvlaki's for lunch today. and guess what? no black cherry soda. i don't even know if they've stopped carrying it, or if they just were out. i hope they were just out. 'cause i have no idea where else i can get the stuff.

i got circular knitting needles today... so... that means something's looking up... right?

poop.

i can't believe...

i can't believe i forgot the other reason i want it to be cold...

HOODIES! i get to wear hoodies when it's cold! if it weren't for this thing called "money," (or maybe this other thing called "practicality"), i'd have more hoodies than shirts. i would be the queen of hoodies. if i could.

speaking of which... this year, fox has a black and pink zip-up hoodie (yeah, i know i already have a black-and-pink and a fox hoodie. so what?), and if anybody sees it for less than 30 (and by less than 30, i don't mean 29.99), let me know... please? =D it's the raceheart zip.

hurley has one too (swirls zip), but hurley tends not to be as thick... roxy has a pink and black (yes, different from black and pink) non-zip that's nice (heart broken), and i think i like the viva zip (fox), but i'm not sure...

speaking of this year's hoodies... i'm so glad they got over the unfinished edge fad. that sucked. i liked the thumb holes, though...

***

update: two retractions... 1) the roxy pink and black one sucks... it's got the whole unfinished edge thing. which brings me to 2) the unfinished edge fad is not over.

as a plus, though, i've decided that i *do* like fox's viva zip.

oh, yeah, yay. more money i want to spend.
